by ECT

At 7:32 pm Saturday, the Oakley Police Department and firefighters responded to a report of a child who had been hit by a vehicle in a hit-and-run accident on Las Dunas Avenue.

When East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters arrived on scene, they located a 3-year-old child who was awake and crying. As a precaution, they requested a medical helicopter to transport the child to Children’s Hospital in Oakland.

According to the District, the child was laying on the ground after being sideswiped by a vehicle on Las Dunas Avenue near O’Hara Avenue.

According to witnesses on our Facebook Page, the young child was being supervised when they ran into the street for a toy. At that point is when the speeding car sideswiped the child.

As of 9:00 am Sunday, Oakley Police have not made an arrest and are currently following up on leads. No further information was provided.
