Oakley Sets Date for Ribbon Cutting at Civic Center Park Playground

by ECT

The City of Oakley announced it will host its grand opening and ribbon cutting for Oakley Civic Center Park on Tuesday, Sept. 14.

The park is the City’s brand new all‐abilities playground and renovations located near the amphitheater at the Oakley Civic Center Park.

The city said after one of the large 200-year-old oak trees fell down a few months ago, the Public Works team got straight to work on filling in the large void that was left behind.  A lot of thought and planning has gone into this project in regards to the location, aesthetics, and functionality; and we believe that the end result will be years of enjoyment for the residents of Oakley.

This brand new all abilities playground includes many different components to bring children of various abilities together, featuring: visual, textile, audible, and vestibular stimuli on many levels for diverse abilities.  The playground also comes with Oakley’s first digitally interactive components that utilize an app called Biba.

No Wi‐Fi?   No worries.  The City of Oakley offers free public Wi‐Fi at 4 of its locations.  Free public Wi‐Fi can be found at Creekside Park, Civic Center Park, Oakley Plaza, and Nunn‐ Wilson/Koda Dog Park.

Some other renovations at Civic Center Park include a large 30-foot-tall redwood tree with a gathering circle and walking path, expanded turf areas, expanded amphitheater seating, and an improved picnic area.

Meh. I feel like Oakley has way more than enough playground-type parks. I think Oakley should add something else for a change. Something like a museum; an indoor ski resort; a performing arts theater consisting of performances like concerts, operas, Broadway musicals, stand-up comedies, and ballets; an entertainment center (Golfland, Boomers!, Dave & Buster’s, Main Event Entertainment, Jump Sky High Sports, etc.); an amusement park that will attract both families and coaster enthusiasts; a water park that could attract travelers and compete with the top 10 best water parks in the United States; a movie theater that plays a mix of Hollywood films, indie films, and foreign films; an entire field filled with trees that has a maze people can hike or jog through; and orchards people can visit pick fruit and nuts would all be great for Oakley to have. In a city with a population of well over 40,000, there certainly needs to be more variety of things to do. People should not have to commute to another city for these cool experiences.

Playgrounds are designed for small children whereas all the activities I mentioned are designed for many different age groups. People should not have to commute to another city for these cool experiences.

Yeah! That’s a wonderful idea! An amusement park! Main Streets renovations and upcoming plans for renovations can absolutely accommodate that ! Please move away. FAR, Far away.. .. This is exactly the kind why a fighting with “family” to keep a beloved family home wasn’t worth it at all … Can’t wait until we can be out of here.. Sad,Sad,Sad
