Oakley: Republic of Cake Restaurant Space Available for Lease

by ECT

The City of Oakley is advertising restaurant space available for lease in the Oakley Plaza in the Republic of Cake location.

According to the flyer available, staff is calling this an “excellent opportunity” to assume a lease on a closing restaurant/bakery space. A highly visible location, and is 1,000 square feet space.

During the December 9 Oakley City Council meeting, a lease amendment was requested and approved by the City Council.

According to the staff report, sales activity started strong and continued for several months; however, recently some reduction in sales has taken place. Combined with health concerns of one of the principals, has led Republic of Cake to the decision to sell the business. The Second Amendment expands the potential uses that is consistent with comments and desires expressed by the City Council and that are compliant with the Downtown Specific Plan.

The Second Amendment is aimed at assisting staff and the broker to broadcast the availability and hope to broker a deal in the next 30-45 days. The lease is $1,333 per month plus some percentage rent as annual revenues exceed $175,000.
