On Monday, the Oakley Police Department said officers responded to a report of male looking into vehicles in the 5500 block of Bridgehead Road in the City of Oakley.
Upon arrival at approximately 3:45 pm, they located the suspect, Paul Muscat, 34 of Richmond, seated in a stolen vehicle out of San Leandro. Muscat was ordered out of the vehicle when he became combative, arming himself with a knife. Police say he then attempted to reach inside the vehicle when officers deployed their tasers and were able to take him into custody.
Upon further investigation, police say Muscat was reaching for a handgun which was stolen out of the City of Livermore. Additionally, illegal narcotics, burglary tools, and stolen property were also located inside the vehicle.
He was taken for medical treatment and eventually booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.
Police say Muscat is a convicted felon with a two-decade history of violence, weapons violations, theft, and attempted murder, in addition to resisting arrest.
No other information was released.

The justice system is a failure in this County and State. Citizens need to be armed and ready at all times.
Great job!!!
They should’ve killed that fuck! Folks in Oakley appreciate police. Coffee on me ??
Why bother with a TASER? Many times those don’t work and time is of the essence! The police should have dispensed with him.
Good work. Glad you are safe. Hopefully he will be off the streets for along time. But, sadly we know he will be back at it very soon.
Why is this article entitled ‘Oakley Police Use Taser….’ instead of man threatens officers with knife while reaching toward gun ‘ (?)
But yet he is out walking the streets to commit more crimes. Should have let him grab the weapon and saved us all the headache
