Updated: Oakley Police Say Man Shot and Killed After Forcing Himself into a Home

by ECT

The Oakley Police Department said just after midnight Saturday, Oakley Police responded to a home on Blue Heron Court after a reported prowler was at a home.

Upon police arrival, they said they discovered a 25-year-old male out of San Francisco had forced himself into the home where he was met by a 37-year-old occupant of a home who shot the man several times. The male was pronounced dead at the scene. He was known to the occupants and had a history of violence.

Police did not release any names of those involved and the investigation is ongoing. There are also no outstanding suspects.

Monday Update

At this time it appears that a single suspect, Tyriek Harrison (M; 25; San Francisco), entered the home on Blue Heron Court where he was confronted by the resident, Jonathan Gillette (M; 37; Oakley). Harrison was known to Gillette and had recently made violent threats to other adult females that were inside the home at the time of this intrusion.

Shots were fired and Harrison was struck, ultimately succumbing to his wounds.

The District Attorney’s Office has been notified and the investigation is on-going.

If you have any information please contact the Oakley Police Department.

Good stuff!!!
People are tired of criminals and have a surprise for them if they break in.

This just happened in Suisun as well. Maybe we are starting a trend. Stand your ground.

About time this happened. Enough of this crap already! They break in? They’re GONE! Saves on court costs!

I have a feeling there more to this story, it said the known to to the resident who shot him.. Why isn’t there more to this incident?? Was the shooter justified on shooting the subject?? Look I am not for the the intruder I am glad he got what he deserved, but unfortunately we have laws that have to followed and just pray the home owner wasn’t charged or arrested.

Seen too many times that justice may not be fair to those who protect themselves or others. I’m a firm believer in voting for those in office who will protect your rights.

Your home is your castle, GENE! If someone is not invited but breaks in, it’s fair game. You don’t invite him to have tea-and-crumpets with you after he breaks in.

Mother of man killed Jul 12, 2021 - 7:00 pm

Save your comments because there is more to this story I know first hand. The man that died didn’t deserve it because it was the home where his son lived. If anyone wants to help the displaced mother get in touch with me

My brother didn’t break he lived there he had a house key and his baby mother and son lived there as well he was no thug or no violent person my brother is gone and lost his life to some bullshit

If someone breaks into your house with the worst intentions and you dispense with them for the protection of your own life and your love ones, a trial lawyer and a cop told me what to do next. Immediately, call your lawyer and then call 911 and request an ambulance (because someone has been hurt). When the cops arrive, identify yourself and do not go into any story or details about what happened. Tell them your lawyer is on the way and you will discuss the event ONLY in his presence. Make sure you have witnesses to hear what you say, so no one misinterprets it.

This man was not breaking into a house.. He owned this house and had keys to this house. This man was murdered and y’all automatically place him as the suspect instead of investigating BECAUSE he was the victim. Not allowing these lies to be carried on! Where’s the truth ??

ECT Jul 13, 2021 - 10:33 pm

Oakley Police said the man “forced” himself into the home. The Monday update then stated the man “entered” the home. Either way, why was he in the home then?

Harrison was known to Gillette and had recently made violent threats to other adult females that were inside the home at the time of this intrusion.

Why didn’t he use his keys to get into his own house — if indeed this was his house. Something’s fishy here.

Curious J Jul 21, 2021 - 11:10 am

It is and it’s lies that are being told to cover up the truth. That’s exactly why it’s Very much Fishy Pamela

Violent people forcing themselves into others homes in no good, and is very scary, i know from experience, had my house broken into before. Glad hes gone, less trash on our streets. Good riddance, condolences to the people who got invaded.

The Auntie Jul 16, 2021 - 3:40 pm

It is quite clear that he wasn’t a resident in the home sence his key didn’t work. Yes, his son lived there but he lived elsewhere. You don’t have to break in if you live there. However, for whatever reason, there was a RESTRAINING ORDER..you know..the order signed by a judge that sayes do not go back on that property..you are no longer allowed there by law..if your found there, you can be arrested…you can also be legally killed! So why would you risk your freedom or even greater, your life by breaking into the house your were ordered not to? Ty. made a bad decision that ultimately ended his life. Yes it is more to the story; but it is a family matter and if your are not his real family, then stay out of it. P.S. for those who are thinking of retaliation; it’s not going to bring Ty. back, so don’t waste thoughts of getting back. This was an unnecessary death especially when everyone was family. I’m hurt and this whole thing is crazy and not right.

MESSAGE FROM THE FATHER: You are right it is a family matter so stop sharing your opinion of the matter on social media and let the justice system do what we pay them to do

His Real Aunte Jul 22, 2021 - 7:13 pm

It’s apparent that you’re getting your information from Jonathan Gillette and you’re not my Nephew Aunte so please do not get on here because you are a liar and whoever told you that is a liar trying to cover up for his murderous Ways He will go to prison for killing my nephew you can put your life on that

How did Oakley wind up with all these losers? It used to be a nice, quiet little town and then the ghetto bunch got in here and this is what we now have.

To the Aunty Jul 20, 2021 - 9:23 am

How did his key not work… only if y’all changed the locks because I was with that man when he made keys and when he put every single copy of the key into the door and MADE SURE IT UNLOCKED THE DOOR! IF THERE WAS A RESTRAINING ORDER WHY WAS HE ABLE TO BE IN THE HOUSE WHEN HE MOVED YOU AND YOUR FAMILY IN (talking to the Aunty)IM HIS FAMILY AND EVERYBODY WHO KNOW HIM KNOW THAT! AND YALL GONE GEAR ME FASHO ON EVERYTHING! Why speak on retaliation in your comment? YOU SEEM VERY GUILTY. YOUR NOT HURT SO DONT COME ON THIS ARTICLE LYING. Y’all ALL RESPONSIBLE FOR MY BROTHER NOT BEING HERE TODAY.

The fact that you people saying anybody DESERVES to be murdered without knowing the entire story is preposterous , WHY would someone do a home invasion as 1 person by themselves, no weapon ? Do y’all hear yourselves this looks like a MURDER being claimed as a home invasion. Let’s be clear ! Why was he making violent threats ? And the police bringing up his history of violence , does the person WHO SHOT HIM have a history of violence ? Why would he go to a home that he know is full of this many people and invade their home with nothing to defend himself? The story ain’t adding up for me. The people who killed this young man need to be investigated. Was their any sign of break in ? The time he was shot to the time the police was called needs to be compared and investigated.
