The Oakley Police Department reports that just before 2:00 p.m. Thursday, police officers were dispatched to Freedom High School for what amounted to a fight between two female students.

Our officers arrived and our investigation revealed two juvenile female students were involved in a physical altercation.

High school staff members reacted quickly to the situation and separated the two female students before anybody was hurt. We were presented with still photos from a video of the incident showing one of the females was armed with a knife. We are not in possession of the video. The pictures indicated the armed female was trying to assault the other female with the knife.

Our officers took the armed female into custody for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and a knife was located during the arrest.

Our investigation has also revealed there was pre-existing tension between the two parties.

The Oakley Police Department is grateful to the Freedom High School staff for handling the situation quickly before anybody was injured.

The Oakley Police Department is also requesting that anybody in possession of the video of the incident please provide it to us. The video will enhance our investigation and allow us to have a more complete understanding of what occurred.

What in the world is happening today? People have gone stark-raving mad. This started happening way before the COVID-19 broke out.

This is yet another example of a reason to have your kids in private schools.
