Oakley Police took a man into custody just before 3:00 pm Friday after a high-speed pursuit through Oakley and through school zones. He was eventually taken into custody at the intersection of Laurel & Empire.
According to police, the vehicle was stolen and the suspect would not yield for several minutes even after a Contra Costa Sheriffs helicopter was overhead. No further details were provided.
Update
Police said the incident began around 2:40pm at at Malicoat Avenue and Main Street where a man was taken into custody for warrants. The driver, Chris Howard, then took off driving recklessly through the city before coming to a stop at Laurel & Empire.
