Oakley Police Make Child Molesting Arrest

The Oakley Police Department announced the arrest of a 28-year-old man after a female was assaulted in the area of Leila Court and Kenneth Lane in Oakley.

On Tuesday, May 10th, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Oakley Police responded to a 911 call in the area of Leila Court and Kenneth Lane. Initial details given to the responding officers was a juvenile had been assaulted in her home by a known suspect.

gary-blackmonThe juvenile fought off her attacker, (Gary Anthony Blackmon, 28, of Oakley) and she sought help from a neighbor who in turn made the call to Police.

A coordinated response by the Supervisor along with officers and detectives resulted in the capture of the suspect who had fled the scene. Circumstantial and direct evidence have linked the suspect to the crime and the investigation is on-going.

The case was presented to the District Attorney’s office on Thursday morning. Accordingly, the reviewing Deputy District Attorney has formally charged the suspect and his arraignment is set for Friday, May 13th.

Blackmon is currently in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility where he faces charges including Assault to Commit Lewd Acts with a Child and Penetration with Object.
