Oakley Police Make Arrest in Saturday Carjacking, Find Stolen Firearm

by ECT

On Saturday morning just before 9:30 am, the Oakley Police Department responded to Teakwood Drive for a report of a male who carjacked a female.

According to radio traffic, Antioch and Brentwood were both notified and were staged at various locations to keep an eye out for a black Chevy truck.

Police said Sunday that the suspect, who was not identified other than he is a male in his 20’s and who is a gang member, was arrested a mid-Saturday afternoon after police had been tracking a cell phone left in the vehicle at the time of the carjacking.

The incident was described as a combination of a domestic and a carjacking where the male is facing a number of charges–but those charges were not yet released. Police did confirm that while performing  a search after the vehicle stop, they located a firearm which was stolen.

No further details were provided.
