Oakley Police Arrest 19-Year-Old in Sunday Homicide

This press release is being sent on behalf of Oakley PD regarding two shootings that occurred in Oakley on Sunday. The first shooting was a homicide at 11:40 am on Norcross Way which left a 23-year-old male dead. The second shooting occurred at 5:48 pm on Walnut Meadows and Vintage Parkway for a report of a shooting.

19-year-old Michael Arthur-Sanchez Martin of Oakley was arrested yesterday without incident. He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on charges that include murder, conspiracy, shooting into an inhabited dwelling and participating in a criminal street gang. Martin is also being charged with probation violation. He is being held on “no bail” status.

Suspect Arrested in Oakley Homicide

Oakley Police Officers and Homicide Detectives from the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff have arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide that occurred on Sunday on the 500 block of Norcross Lane in Oakley.

19-year-old Michael Arthur-Sanchez Martin of Oakley was arrested yesterday without incident. He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on charges that include murder, conspiracy, shooting into an inhabited dwelling and participating in a criminal street gang. Martin is also being charged with probation violation. He is being held on “no bail” status.

On Sunday, at about 11:40 AM, the Oakley Police Department was dispatched to a report of a shooting on the 500 block of Norcross Lane. Officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound on the sidewalk in front of a residence. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene. He was later identified as 23-year-old Jesse Hernandez of Antioch.

At about 5:48 PM, Oakley Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Walnut Meadows and Vintage Parkway for a report of a shooting. No one was shot, but one person received minor injuries from broken glass. Detectives say this shooting was linked to the earlier shooting of Hernandez.

The investigation into the homicide is continuing. Detectives believe the killing was linked to an earlier dispute between Martin and Hernandez.

Wow! In less than 24 hours the Oakley PD was able to catch this guy. It is sad that these things happen here in the Bay Area way too often but I am happy to live in a place that catches the thug so quickly. Great job Oakley!

unreal they catch a guy that was shooting at someone good job police in uniform arrested someone without shooting him down . that is a rare one maybe there is some good officers now those same officer need to stand up to the gang bangers that they have in the sheriffs department that makes them look bad and concord police gang bangers also

This pretty much sums up that Oakley is spiraling down and should not get it’s own department.Looks like more deputies were brought in from Discovery Bay and Bay Point than the city has.Oakley is getting it’s moneys worth by far and the rest of east county will just has to suffer.This type of crime with these young bangs is getting more popular in Oakley.To bad the parents and teachers couldn’t get to this kid before he went bad.His life is now part of the revolving system.In a couple years the cancer of scumbags with migrate all the way to Discovery Bay.
