Oakley Police Announce Arrest in Road Rage Shooting

The Oakley Police announced they have made an arrest of a Pittsburg man in connection with a road rage incident that occurred on March 12, 2022.

According to police, Oakley Police officers were sent to the area of Main Street and Malicoat Avenue for a road rage incident that lead to one motorist shooting at another motorist. No one was struck by gunfire in the incident.

When the shooting was reported, officers were positioned on Laurel Road while conducting another investigation.  The victim of the shooting was able to provide a good description of a very distinctive vehicle.  Officers, who were on Laurel Road saw the suspect vehicle approaching them as they were responding to the area of the shooting.

Oakley Police were able to stop the vehicle on Highway-160 near the Main Street exit. Further investigation revealed a gun concealed inside an ice chest.

Officers were able to obtain enough evidence and statements to substantiate an arrest of the driver of the suspect vehicle and they took possession of the gun. The suspect in this case is identified as Sergio Cruz-Silva, 32 years old, Pittsburg.

OPD investigators presented the case to the District Attorney’s Office and the following charges were filed against Sergio Cruz-Silva:

  • Shooting at occupied vehicle (Felony)
  • Shooting from a motor vehicle (Felony)
  • Possession of firearm, not being the registered owner (Felony)

No other information was released.
