Oakley: Judge Postpones Decision on Sexually Violent Child Predator Move to Dutch Slough Road

by ECT

On Friday, a Contra Costa Judge postponed making a decision to allow Robert Bates, a sexually violent child predator, to move into the 2400 block of Dutch Slough Road in Oakley on the Bethel Island border.

According to Supervisor Mary Piepho’s Office, the judge continued the hearing until Friday, October 23 at 8:30 am.

In the Sheriffs Press Release prior to Friday’s hearing, they said Bates has been convicted of multiple violations of Penal Code 288 Lewd & Lascivious Acts with a child under 14) and Health & Safety Code 11380 (Furnishing Controlled Substance and Marijuana to a minor).

Details later emerged the three incidents occurred against young boys between the ages of 6-15 years old between 1989-1995 all occurring in West County.

The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office has opposed the placement of this sexually violent predator in Contra Costa County and Supervisor Piepho submitted a letter also opposing the plan.

Big deal.. we have sexually violent predators on almost every street in Antioch. They constantly relocate to various section 8 rentals. Landlords don’t bother with background checks.
