by ECT

Just before 8:30 am Saturday, the East Contra Costa firefighters responded to a report of a garage fire in the 30 block of Douglas Road off Main Street in Oakley.

While en route, Engine 88 reported smoke showing from Antioch and that it was a working fire. Upon arrival, Engine 93 arrived to a fully involved garage fire.

IMG_9515Firefighters quickly mobilized to begin fire attack and ensured all occupants were out. In the process, they located a Yorkie dog which they pulled from danger.

The fire was caused by the occupants cooking in the garage and the oil tipped over causing flames into the garage which spread to both units in the duplex. No other structures were damaged.

Fire crews were on scene for 2-hours and 44-minutes.

Responded units included Contra Costa Fire Protection District, AMR, and Oakley Police who provided traffic control.
