Oakley: Firefighters Respond to Kitchen Fire, Pull Animals from Home

At 3:01 pm Thursday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a report of a kitchen fire in the 100 block of Norcross Road off Main Street in the City of Oakley.

When Engine 53 arrived on scene, they reported smoke coming from inside the home and reported the fire had extended into the attic. As more units arrived on scene, they began to make fire attack and quickly knocked down the fire.

Multiple animals were pulled from the home, however, it was unclear if any other animals were inside or injured.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Update:
According to Battalion Chief Jake Gonzalez, the fire was deemed accidental due to unattended cooking in the kitchen.
