Oakley: Firefighters Quickly Extinguish Vegetation Fire

At 11:08 pm Monday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vegetation fire in the 1700 block of Walnut Meadows Drive near Delta Ranch Dr. in Oakley.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find about a 100 yards of vegetation on fire and Engine 93 began fire attack while Engine 52 responded from the train tracks area.

The fire did not threaten any homes and no one was injured. Firefighters stated the fire was likely started by a homeless encampment.

Crews were on scene for a little over an hour.

So homeless people started a fire…. and good work on the part of the FD in putting it out before it got out of control.. but where was PD in making sure there wasn’t a homeless encampment in the first place?
