Oakley Fire Destroys Home, District Left Uncovered for 4-Hours

At 8:01 pm Thursday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 400 block of Memory Lane in Oakley near Main Street and Delta Road.

While responding, Engine 93 reported smoke and flames a few blocks out. A few seconds later Battalion Chief 5 arrived on scene reporting a fully involved structure and defensive fire protection was required.

The fire also ignited a detached garage and several large trees according to BC5. He also reported the home was abandoned

According to the District, no fire hydrants were in the area which required two water tenders to shuttle water back and forth to supply water for firefighters to extinguish the fire.

The fire was knocked down by 8:55 pm with the home being destroyed, the garage structure destroyed along with two vehicles in the driveway. In total, damages were estimated at $200k.

The fire is currently under investigation with the Contra Costa County Arson Investigation Unit.
