Oakley: Child Nearly Drowns After Falling into Pond, Airlifted to Local Hospital

At 4:54 pm Monday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a near drowning in the 5300 block of Tule Tree Lane in Oakley.

According to the District, Engine 93 arrived on scene of a pediatric patient who fell into a pond. They performed patient assessment with AMR and determined the child was to be flown to Children’s Hospital in Oakland due to possible respiratory complications.

According to a source on scene, the child was a one-year-old and it’s unknown how long the child was in the water, however, the parents performed life-saving measures. By the time Station 93 crew had arrived, the child was breathing and crying on his own.

No further details were released.
