Oakley Awarded $100,000 to Conduct Study for Possible Transit Station

by ECT

The City of Oakley has been awarded a Priority Development Area (PDA) Planning Grant of $100,000 through the Contra Costa Transportation Authority. Oakley was one of ten jurisdictions to be awarded a grant.

This grant will specifically be used to conduct a Market Demand Analysis and Land Use and Development Alternatives Study that focuses on placing a transit station within the Downtown PDA. The purpose of this analysis is to determine the feasibility of placing either a San Joaquin Joint Powers Authority Station and/or a TriDelta Transit park and ride lot in the PDA and its overall effect on the housing and economic (commercial/retail) conditions of the downtown area.

The City is also seeking information regarding the feasibility of Transit Orientated Development (TOD) near or around such a train station or transit lot. Detailed mapping of potential project sites and TOD opportunity areas will be prepared, as well as a corresponding pro forma analysis that outlines the market feasibility of a transit station and surrounding TOD development.

The lead project team assigned to work with Oakley is Perkins & Will. Perkins & Will is a globally recognized planning and design team that has worked on both small and large scale projects of similar scope. In addition to Perkins and Will several other highly qualified sub consultants form part of the team including Fehr and Peers Transportation Planning and EPS Economic and Planning Systems.

Why would Oakley want this? How has that worked out for Antioch with the train station downtown and the park and ride downtown? Just more crime and homeless. Oakley would be foolish to want this.

Leave my city alone. It was fine until they built the projects behind Raleys. Now this. I’m out of here when the police goes in house.

Why would the want this, because more than 50% of their population doesn’t work in Oakley and what they build more and more houses. With all the so called poor to middle class being pushed out of San Francisco and surrounding areas, where do you think they are moving too. Yeah every one points to other cities, Antioch, Brentwood, etc. Were all neighbors for each yet, were all just less than a few miles and we complain about oh not our problem. What a joke from all my neighbors.
