Oakley: 12 Candidates Pull Papers for Potential Council Run

The City of Oakley announced Thursday that 12-people have pulled papers to run for the city council this fall during the November 8, 2016 –3 seats are open.

To date, the following candidates have pulled papers:

  • Randi Adler
  • Claire Alaura– filed & qualified for ballot
  • Gabrial Anderson
  • Stephen DeMarco– filed & qualified for ballot
  • Michael Dupray
  • Conrad Fromme
  • Doug Hardcastle (incumbent)
  • Joseph Healy
  • Bruno Korbmacher- filed & awaiting for validation
  • Dezi Pina– filed & qualified for ballot
  • Ayore Riaunda
  • Kevin Romick (incumbent) – filed & qualified for ballot

The Nomination Period for the election is July 18, 2016 through August 12, 2016. However, Vanessa Perry has stated she will not be seeking re-election which means the filing period will be extended until 6:00 pm on August 17th for non-incumbents.

Filing papers may be obtained during regular business hours at the Office of the City Clerk,
Oakley City Hall, 3231 Main Street in Oakley. A nominee must be a registered voter
residing within the City of Oakley. Individuals who are interested in running for office are
strongly encouraged to make an appointment with the City Clerk or Election Official to
review and obtain papers to run for office.

Everyone loses when there are too many candidates and this is a good example. Even the good people lose because the votes are diluted too much. Good for someone no one wants though.
