The following is a sampling of the Oakley Police Calls over the past week reported between May 23-29 and June 6-12 which focuses on the higher priority call response

Note – Oakley’s call log between May 30-June 6 was a duplicate of the previous weeks calls.

Police Briefs

SERIAL ARMED ROBBER ARRESTED
On April 18th, at around 12:30 p.m., Oakley Police officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Shearwater Way. The victim reported that she had her high-end watch stolen from her at gunpoint. The victim provided her statements and officers and detectives conducted follow-up investigations. Detectives were able to identify a potential suspect and authored a warrant for the suspect’s arrest.
On Thursday, May 3rd, Federal agents were able to safely detain the suspect, Shane Downs (M; 24; Pittsburg) with Oakley detectives taking custody of Downs and executing a search warrant in Pittsburg. A loaded firearm was located during the search and Downs was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility for booking. Downs has been linked to several other similar armed robberies in Contra Costa County.
ILLEGAL FIREARM CONFISCATED AFTER A LOUD MUSIC CALL
On Thursday, May 27th at around 8:30 p.m., an Oakley Police officer was dispatched to the 1800 block of Fairhaven Way reference a loud music complaint. After an unsuccessful knock at the front door, the officer was confronted by the armed suspect, who was inside the open garage. Fortunately, the suspect did as he should and obeyed the officer’s commands; safely putting down the weapon. This allowed for a safe resolution to a very dangerous situation. The suspect was arrested and the illegal weapon confiscated
SUSPECTS IDENTIFIED
The Oakley Police Department would like to thank the public for their assistance in helping to identify the juvenile delinquents that have been vandalizing Delaney Park. Officers spoke with the juveniles and their parents; exact details cannot be shared due to the suspects’ ages.
OAKLEY POLICE ABLE TO RECOVER OVER $10,000 OF STOLEN MERCHANDISE
On Wednesday, May 19th, Oakley police officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of Main Street regarding a burglary. Officers discovered that a forced entry into the business; disarming the alarm and stealing more than $42,000 in merchandise. The business had no leads to provide the police.
On Tuesday, May 25th, Oakley police officers worked with the store owner to use a ruse to apprehend the suspected thieves. The two suspects (Mariano Coronado, M, 33 and Ely Coronado, F, 29; both from Pittsburg) were arrested without incident and approximately $10,000 of the stolen merchandise was recovered. Oakley detectives continued their investigation and on Wednesday, May 26th, they were able to recover another $1,000 of merchandise from a residence in Antioch.
OAKLEY POLICE AND CORE HELP ANOTHER HOMELESS INDIVIDUAL OFF THE STREETS
While out on their daily patrols, Oakley police officers contacted a longtime homeless male with a history of violence and police contact. The male had been contacted several times by Oakley police, but had always refused services. This time, the male agreed to voluntarily enter a rehab program so that he could reconnect with his estranged son. Oakley police is proud of its partnership with CORE and their shared mission to find long term solutions for those seeking assistance and shelter.
