Ironhouse Sanitary District to Host Egg Salvage and Duck/Pheasant Rescue

The Ironhouse Sanitary District is inviting the public to be part of the Egg Salvage and Duck/Pheasant Rescue on April 2 beginning at 9:00 am.

Volunteers are needed to help hunt for ground nesting birds and their nests, as well as, walk through hayfields ringing cowbells to help locate nesting sites.

This hunt is to help collect bird eggs and move the hatched ground nesting birds that have chosen to lay their eggs in the hayfields on Jersey Island and to make sure that the eggs and baby birds don’t get harmed during the plowing season.

All ages are invited to volunteer. No experience is necessary.

Pheasants Forever
Directions: to Jersey Island Cypress Road (toward Bethel Island) turn onto Jersey Island follow  road over bridge to the island. Event will be hosted at hayfields on island.
