Firefighters Save Oakley Studio Apartment After Electrical Fire Strikes

by ECT

At 3:35 pm Sunday afternoon, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a residential fire on Hill Ave in Oakley where they saved a studio apartment behind a home.

The fire was reported by a neighbor on Bolton Road off Main Street who saw the smoke and immediately called dispatch for help.

As crews responded, they made their way to the back of the property where nothing was showing. As soon as they opened the door, a large amount of smoke came rushing out of the apartment. Crews immediately put the fire out without incident and prevented extension.

Oakley Police were on scene to provide traffic control and ensure vehicles did not run over hoses on the street.

Firefighters are calling this an electrical fire and while we at EastCountyToday will consider this a very nice home save by fire crews. Crews were on scene for roughly an hour.

On a side note:
We want to thank the next door neighbor for allowing us into her backyard to snap some photographs of this incident.
