Update: Oakley Police Say “Young Juveniles” Responsible for Playground Fire

At 8:11 pm Saturday, Oakley Police and East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters responded to Robinwood Ave for a report of a fire.

IMG_4531Upon arrival, firefighters located a fully involved playground structure on fire threatening a nearby building. Firefighters quickly began dumping water on the fire to prevent the nearby structure from being damaged.

Oakley Police confirmed on scene they were investigating the fire as arson and vandalism. There were no injuries reported.

Oakley Police are asking that anyone with information that would assist with the investigation is encouraged to call the Oakley Police Department at 625-8855.

Update – June 20, 2016

The Oakley Police Department announced Monday that two young juveniles have been identified as the responsibles in this incident.  The Quail Valley Homeowners’ Association, who owns and maintains the park, will be working with the parents of the minors on restitution for the damage.
