ECCFPD Responds to Three Major Incidents Within Hour, Power Knocked Out

On Saturday Night, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to three major incidents within an hour of each other which all three required an initial request of a medical helicopter.

The first incident occurred in Oakley at Main Street and Delta Road at 11:06 pm where a vehicle overturned and sheared a pole causing power lines to go down across the street. It also caused a power outage to 1800 homes. As of 6:00 am, power is effecting 60-homes.

Engine 93 reported on scene that there were three patients with one person who fled the scene. Injuries included 1 moderate and 2 minor patients.

At 11:43pm, the District received a report of a motorcycle crash on Byron Highway near Bruns Road requiring Engine 59 to divert from the helicopter spot in Oakley and head back to Byron along with BC5. The District worked with AMR and REACH to transport the patient by air where they landed at the Byron Airport due to safety and lack of resources available.

At 11:59, Engine 93 reporting a man located on the ground near Main Street and Delta Road. A medical helicopter was request, however, with CALSTAR 2 more than 30-minutes away, the AMR supervisor decided to ground transport the patient.
