Here we go again. ECCFPD is looking at forcing a parcel tax on your property. We pay enough! Please get educated yourself and look at there budget. http://www.eccfpd.org/adminStaff/index.htm

Yes educate yourself. No additional revenue means 3 station in operation to respond to fire. A single alarm fire = 5 engines. ECCFPD would only be responding with 3 engines which means your house burns down.

I assume the point that Joe is trying to make, based on the link he provides, is that the District is administratively top-heavy with four Chief-level officers. Nothing could be further from the truth. Battalion Chiefs are not desk jockeys; they are frontline firefighters who also perform some administrative duties when not in the field. Each commands a shift, has the same 48 hours on duty as the rest of his shift, and sleeps in quarters when on duty. The Batallion Chief responds to all fires and any other situation of more than routine complexity, often redeploying resources while enroute to ensure the District responds appropriately to the situation while trying to maintain coverage in the rest of the District.

By all means. look at our budget. We will welcome anyone who wants to take a closer look at any aspect of District operations. To contribute to the discussion, attend the meetings of the Board Committe on Finance, generally held on the second Thursday of each month at 10:00 A.M. in Station 93. The next meeting is the 12th, and we will be considering several variations on the budget, including what is possible past November 2014 without additional revenue. It is grim reading.
