Antioch, CA – Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Oakley) encourages constituents to learn more about the Affordable Care Act and Covered California by joining him at a Covered CaliforniaTM Workshop on Thursday, December 5th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fremont Elementary School in Antioch.
On March 23, 2010, President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act, putting in place comprehensive health insurance reforms that will protect consumers, make coverage more affordable, and expand health care access. Over five million Californians are expected to benefit from health coverage offered through Covered California, a marketplace where Californians can buy health insurance that cannot be denied or cancelled if they have pre-existing conditions or become ill.
This workshop will allow participants to meet with health care service providers for Contra Costa County, including: Kaiser, Blue Shield, Contra Costa Health Plan, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), La Clínica, Planned Parenthood, California Department of Aging’s Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP), Contra Costa County Employment and Health Services Department (for Medi-Cal assistance), Community Clinic Consortium, and California Health Collaborative.
