Contra Costa Republican Party Chairman Calls For Special Election to Fill Oakley Elementary Union School District

by ECT

Oakley, Calif. — The Chairman of the Contra Costa Republican Party is calling upon the Contra Costa County Board of Education to call for a special election rather than appointments to the Oakley Elementary Union School District after mass resignations of its board members.

Contra Costa County Board of Education President Annette Lewis appointed three of the county board members to serve temporarily on the board pending, a yet to be determined permanent appointment process or a special election.

“The Oakley Elementary Union School Board Members resigned for blatantly disrespecting the families struggling through the pandemic, not allowing them to vote on the next board would add insult to injury,” said Contra Costa Republican Party Chairman, Matt Shupe. “The parents of Oakley deserve to have a school board that works to reopen its schools, not insult them behind closed doors and deprive their children their right to an education, so I call for a special election to fill these seats so that the parents have not only a loud voice, but a vote on the future board.”
