Construction Workers Stifle Oakley Grass Fire

by ECT

Construction workers, pictured below, who were working at the PG&E plant were quick to act when they saw flames on the side of Bridgehead Road and put out the small blaze as crews from Engine 93 arrived.  The small grass fire popped up after an axle on a trailer created a spark and ignited the nearby brush.  Engine 93 estimated being on scene for about 15-minutes doing clean up and to ensure hot spots did not flare up again.

The grass fire was reported at 3:04 pm and occurred right across from Sandy Point 3 Mobile Home Park in Oakley between Main Street and Wilbur.

“They were the real hero’s,” stated Steve Carter of Engine 93.

Although the fire was not that big, I hope the city honors these workers for lending a helping hand. I challenge the City Council to do the right thing.
