Click It Or Ticket Operation Nets 50-Tickets in East Contra Costa

by ECT

On Wednesday, during a joint-law enforcement operation for the “click it or ticket” campaign, motorcycle officers patrolled local streets resulting in around 50-tickets being issued.

Six motorcycle officers from the Antioch, Brentwood and Oakley Police Department worked as a team to patrol streets in each city for several hours at a time focusing on seat belts, cell phone use and other traffic violations.

In a April, a similar operation resulted in 57-tickets according to the Brentwood Police Department.

That’s all good but those guys must not be looking because my drive from ANTIOCH down Leland to golf course I see at least a third as many violations in fifteen minutes so all those guys accomplished is increasing city revenues not stemming the problems

@ Jacqueline …. So you think the city needs an even bigger drag net to get all those people you see breaking the law while they drive? Hmmm, that would likely take about a thousand more police in Antioch alone. If they could even do this exercise once a week with the resources they now have, it would definitely make a difference. I say … good job officers! Keep it up!

I understand both points.

The problem is the blatant disregard for the LAW which has been in place for years now. Let’s face it we live in a society where people think its ok to play the odds.

If we had more sever penalties or more enforcement….well problem solved.

Let’s say for example we cut off a hand if you are caught. What do you think that would do for compliance.

And yeah, we would have a few more one handed drivers out there, but “thems the rules”!

Until something changes, drivers bad habits won’t.

Cutting off hands is elementary. We need to step our game up in eradicating crime. Here’s one idea: Every registered citizen should be monitored 24/7 by local law enforcement with the help of all our personal camera devices. Monitoring email, texts, calls, and browsing history are not enough. Our police need a constant eye on each one of us to not only prevent crimes in the act but to also ensure that none get away clean. Cameras on our bodies as well as in our houses and cars are necessary to stamp out all future crime. How will we stop the violence, the common disregard for each other, the theft, the corruption we all despise so much? With omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent monitoring power in the hands of our authorities.

Thank you law enforcement keep it up. All those speeders, tailgaters and cell phone users need to know you are giving tickets. They need to slow the hell down and stop following so close. I drive Pittsburg Antioch and Brentwood and it is awful how many close calls I see every single day.
