Firefighters Battling Half-Acre Vegetation Fire in Oakley

At 2:45 pm Friday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vegetation fire in the 3000 block of Dutch Slough Rd in the City of Oakley.

The fire was originally reported as the size of a vehicle, however, while responding a column of smoke was showing which promoted Engine 53 to call for additional resources. Upon arrival, they located at 100×100 vegetation fire in marsh land.

By 3:21 pm, the fire was estimated at a half-acre and mostly contained. A suspect, who is known to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, was identified. The roadway was also shut down by CHP to allow crews on scene to work the incident.

No other information was readily available.
