Oakley Police Quickly Extinguish Side Yard Fire Preventing Home Damage

At 11:44 am Sunday, Oakley Police along with East Contra Costa firefighters responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 4700 block of Burgundy Drive in Oakley.

Firefighters were dispatched to multiple report of a “loud explosion” at a home.

Oakley Police arrived on scene to find a barbecue on fire along with a fence on the side of the home. They, along with neighbors, quickly extinguished the fire preventing the home from being damage.

“We are not going to let the fire burn down the home, we put it out quickly,” said Sergeant Robert Roberts.

The damage was limited to the fence, a barbecue, and some other items on the side of the home. Engine 93 (Oakley) was able to handle the call without additional resources.

There was also no reported injuries.
