On May 31, protesters demonstrated in both the City of Oakley and then moved on to the City of Brentwood in what was a peaceful demonstration.
While many cities across the San Francisco Bay Area are under curfew which includes Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Danville in Contra Costa to go along with San Francisco, San Jose and Santa Clara–Brentwood and Oakley showcased how a peaceful demonstration should be as seen in the video.
Oakley Police Chief Eric Christensen took a knee and chatted with protesters while Brentwood Police Chief Tom Hansen did the same — even addressing them saying change was on the way.

The protest was completely peaceful, no looting, no violence. If you paid attention, you’d see that a majority of protests don’t get violent until the police start using unnecessary force. You’re exactly what’s wrong with America today and you can’t even see it.

You are entitled to your opinion. However, you should read the facts instead of inventing your own. It was a peaceful protest and that’s all – no looters and rioters. Also, it is just possible that these police chiefs may have more knowledge of and better judgment about community relations than you do.

It’s these “peaceful” demonstrations and protests which bring in the looters. Ever since the first protest started in Minneapolis, word got around fast via social media and the looting troops were on this right away. They were organized and ready to move.

Those two comments are exactly what’s wrong with today’s society. The protestors were doing absolutely nothing wrong. They were simply voicing their opinions and being heard PEACEFULLY and RESPECTFULLY. The officers had no reasons to ADD violence to the scene. Taking a knee doesn’t mean they are “soft” or “gave up”, they simply are voicing their opinions/views just like everyone else. Showing the community that they are with them and they see what is going on in the world. It is possible to be a police officer and still have feelings you know.
They can take their “opinions” and put them where “the sun don’t shine!” This was a display of WEAKNESS! Those “protesters” have nothing to protest about. They don’t give a hoot about Floyd or any of his brethren. Nothing is going to change and you can take that to the bank, Maddy!

The Oakley Chief-of-Police seems to be a real ass-kisser and demonstrated defeat. Instead, he should have had his officers break up this crowd of noisemakers and send them on their way. There is nothing to protest about. If those “protesters” wanted to help, they could have descended on other cities and help stem the looters.
