Tri Delta Transit Makes the Switch to Neste MY Renewable Diesel

by ECT

Antioch – Tri Delta Transit has switched their entire fleet of transit buses from operating on petroleum diesel to using only Neste MY Renewable Diesel™.

Neste MY Renewable Diesel is a low-carbon fuel, produced from 100% renewable and sustainable raw materials. This innovative fuel cuts greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% and significantly reduces tailpipe emissions, all while enhancing fleet performance. Neste MY Renewable Diesel is a drop-in alternative to petroleum diesel and is distributed via the same fuel infrastructure.

“Tri Delta Transit is committed to operating our service safely, efficiently and responsibly,” says Jeanne Krieg, Chief Executive Officer. “By switching to renewable diesel, we will reduce our output of greenhouse gases by up to 80%.”

In addition, the company reports that complaints about engine smoke have been totally eliminated even from the older vehicles in the fleet. Tri Delta Transit’s 3,000,000 trips a year are now more sustainable and more rider-friendly because there’s no smoke and fuel odor, eliminated by switching to Neste MY renewable diesel.

“Since changing fuels, we have received zero complaints from drivers regarding vehicle power and reliability, and there has been no change to routine maintenance,” said Kevin Moody, maintenance director at Tri Delta Transit. Moody added that none of the drivers were told of the switch to renewable diesel and none of them noticed any difference at all.

“Neste is happy to have a forward-thinking company like Tri Delta Transit join the ranks of other progressive companies leading the way towards sustainable solutions,” said Jeremy Baines, vice president of sales, Neste US, Inc. “By phasing out the use of petroleum diesel and replacing it with renewable diesel, they are protecting the environment from the harmful effects of diesel emissions.”

Neste creates responsible alternatives for transportation, business, and consumer needs. Neste’s global range of products and services allows customers to lower their carbon footprint by combining high-quality and low-emission renewable products and oil products to tailor-made service solutions. Neste is the world’s largest producer of renewable diesel refined from waste and residues, and it’s bringing renewable solutions to the aviation and plastics industries.

Happy to see that Tri Delta Transit did this, and I hope other cities follow suit.
