Reward Offered After Construction Vehicles Stolen Off Marsh Creek Road Job

by ECT

McGuire and Hester

During the construction of two new water pipelines on Marsh Creek Road by the Contra Costa Water District, a construction company was robbed last night of two excavators from the project.

McGuire and Hester had parked the vehicles alongside Marsh Creek Road at Deer Valley Rd. while the projected is occurring near the mobile home park.  In order to move them, aside from walking them off the project site, they would have had to load them onto an equipment trailer.  This would have involved shutting down part of Marsh Creek Road and would have been highly visible

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

According to their Facebook Page, McGuire and Hester is offering a reward for the successful return of undamaged stolen excavators to a law enforcement agency; or the arrest and conviction of any person(s) who have damaged or stolen the excavators.

Here is information provided by the company.

Our company, McGuire and Hester is performing the waterline upgrades for the Contra Costa Water District on Marsh Creek in Clayton, CA.  Last night  at approximately 7:45 we had two of our excavators , a CAT 307 & a CAT 308 along with  a compaction wheel stolen right off of Marsh Creek near Deer Valley.  The excavators were staged alongside the road.

In order to move them, aside from walking them off the project site, they would have had to load them onto an equipment trailer.  This would have involved shutting down part of Marsh Creek Road and would have been highly visible.

Initial investigations have turned up a blue Subaru that may have been involved in the theft and a neighbor saw a dually pick-up truck with a tilt-up trailer loading one excavator.

We are asking for the public’s help in locating these two excavators.

If you saw anyone operating these excavators, loading them or hauling them on Marsh Creek or have information as to their whereabouts, please come forward and call Kim Carone with McGuire and Hester at 925-785-7480 or 510.632.7367. Kim can also be reached at [email protected].

I have attached two photos of the excavators which are marked with large green stripes and the yellow McGuire and Hester logo.

Note: CLAYCORD broke this story and alerted us to it. We wanted to pass it along in hopes of locating the equipment.

We had two backhoes stolen off of one of our job sites. The dumb dumbs contacted a trucking company to move them up to the sierras. Lucky for us, it was a trucking company we did business with. They called us, we called the police.
