Moraga: Immediate Evacuation Ordered Due to 60 Acre Vegetation Fire

At around 1:00 am Thursday, residents in Moraga were ordered to evacuate after a vegetation fire broke out near Saint Mary’s Fire.

As of 3:30 am, the fire was reported to be around 60 acres with 60% containment. About 100 homes were evacuated with 0 structures burned.

As part of the PG&E power shutoff, the area had no power as of 11:00 pm Wednesday. There are currently 8 outages in Moraga impacting 4,512 customers.

Moraga Police Department Alert:

Due to a fast moving fire, an immediate evacuation has been ordered for the Sanders Ranch neighborhood in Moraga. Residents along Sanders Ranch Road, Merrill Drive and Harrington Road should evacuate now. Leave now and go to St Monica’s Church in Moraga located at 1001 Camino Pablo. Take only those essential items you have ready and can carry with you. Pets must be in a carrier or on a leash. Lock your windows and doors as you leave. Stay off the phone unless you need to report a life-threatening emergency at your location. However, if you are physically unable to leave your home unassisted, call 9 1 1 for help.
