Liberty Union High School District Says Three Athletes Test Positive For Coronavirus

by ECT

On Wednesday, the Liberty Union High School District announced that three of their students had tested positive for COVID-19 who had engaged in County Health Services approved activities.

In a letter sent out by Superintendent Eric Volta to the community, he said it appears the students contracted the virus outside of their workout “pods” and that parents of all students who had close and remote contact with these students during the conditioning activities have been notified.

“Fortunately, I am convinced that while under the supervision of our coaches these students maintained social distance with their workout groups, and covered their faces going to and from their workouts while on campus,” said Volta in the letter.

The District is suspending all conditioning activities until it is clear if or when interscholastic sports will even occur. The District will also continue to apprise the community of other relevant information pertaining to the scheduled August 10 first day of schools.
