East Contra Costa residents were very generous Friday during the Fill The Boot event at the intersection of Lone Tree Way and Empire Avenue in Brentwood.
Between 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters helped raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association by accepting donations from drivers parked at the intersection. The event raised a total of $13,474 which included over $1,000 in change.
The money collected will go towards care and research for locals kids and families dealing with the affects of muscular dystrophy.
Help the firefighters and MDA beat last years fundraising effort as the next event will be held on June 13, firefighters will return to Balfour and Fairview in Brentwood for a second time to raise more funds.
Note: A special shout out to Lumpy’s Diner who donated their camper for the event so firefighters and representatives from the MDA had a work space and shade. Lumpy’s also donated ribs to the firefighters.

This is a very worth while cause but as I drive up on it and have these guys running into traffic it is frightening. One jumped right in front of me. There must be a better way. This is terribly dangerous.
