At 7:10 am Tuesday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a report of smoke and flames coming from a home in the 1800 block of E 18th Street near Trembath Lane across from Cornerstone Christian School in the City of Antioch.
The fire sent a large cloud of smoke into the air as crews arrived to flames coming out of a home while at least seven vehicles were on fire. Antioch Police shut down the roadway in both directions as crews worked the incident – it was also stated that the home was a “known drug house”
By 8:00 am, CONFIRE had the fire knocked down and were in overhaul, it was anticipated the roadway would be blocked for several hours. CONFIRE also stated at least one firefighter sustained a minor injury, however, he was treated and released on scene.
According to police, a subject was sleeping in a nearby trailer when he awoke to the sound of the flames and crackling. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
