At around 2:45 pm Tuesday, Contra Costa County Firefighters responded to a report of a field on fire off Apollo Court and Wilbur in the City of Antioch.
Upon arrival, firefighters located a homeless encampment fire under Wilbur Avenue. When they made access through a couple of fences, they made quick knockdown on the fire without incident.
On Sunday, it was reported by CONFIRE that more than 55% of vegetation fires over the past several weeks have been started by homeless.
Antioch Police were also on scene.

They are going to burn this city to the ground! Just watch! These are dangerous people! They need to be dealt with NOW! How many more fires will they be setting? The summer heat just started! What will happen when we hit three digit temperatures and high winds?

Look at all that dry vegetation those firefighters have to walk through. Why hasn’t that been cleared out? Who’s responsible for that area? Look at all junk in that encampment? Toilet tissue all over. The firefighters have to walk through all that crap! Yuck!

I feel so sorry for the firefighters who have to wade through all that garbage! Where were these “homeless” when the firetrucks got there? We don’t see any of them lurking about.
Like once again i say it it may not be the homeless it could be someone trying to drive the homeless away or just simply being a homless hater you ever think about that cause why would you. You dont think for one min the could be sone of those roming around open ur eyes people unless you have witnessed with your own eys and have proof. You might want to reconsider what you speak think about it why would the homeless catch there only belonging on fire were they sleep you guys are pathetic
Over 55% of the fires were started by the homeless, Marie! Many of these people are mentally ill and don’t care what they set on fire, even THEIR own belongings. No, I don’t think it’s anyone “roming” around. I’ve seen it happen with my own eyes and called the fire department.

Antioch needs to get it together regarding its growing Homeless problem. These people are dangerous to themselves and others. Law abiding citizens are fed up with the lack of action taken by the city. The majority of these Homeless folks are involved in all sorts of illegal activity. Trust me, when they set up camp in your backyard any sympathy you have for them will vanish.
Ok first of all the fire department knows nothing. They are only making a guess (the most simple they can come up with) 55% of the fires are set by the homeless? NO! YOUR ARE WRONG! I am a homeless woman and I am neither on drugs or mentally ill. If the police would just not only do thier job instead of being lazy and assuming the easiest cause, and if they would just open thier eyes (and ears) and just pay attention, these fires would come to a stop. Hey! Homeless but hopeful! What did you do about this Audrey Thomas and her fire-setting activity? Did you call the police and tell them where to find this upstanding citizen? Otherwise, why even bring it up?
All you negative people are a bunch of SHEEP SCARED OF YOUR OWN SHADOW!! You all wouldn’t last a minute without your electricity and your safe little houses let’s see you go outside and live in elements without your air conditioning and make it!!YA RIGHT!
