Contra Costa County Offers “Rosie” Destination Wedding Location

by ECT

MARTINEZ – Contra Costa County is offering couples the chance to have a wedding with a background that features the sparkling water of San Francisco Bay and the dramatic skyline of one of the most popular cities in the world.

The Contra Costa Clerk-Recorder is offering a special venue for couples who wish to exchange wedding vows at the Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front Historical Park in Richmond. In partnership with the National Parks Service, the County Clerk-Recorder will officiate weddings at the picturesque site from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm on Friday, September 7th.

There are only 33 appointments available for this summertime “Destination Wedding.”

“We’re excited to offer this opportunity for couples to be married at this historic and beautiful location,” Clerk-Recorder Joe Canciamilla said. “Couples can experience their special day by having some of the most beautiful views in the Bay Area.”

“It is an amazing opportunity to partner with the County to host wedding ceremonies in the park.  This is an inspiring start for these newly joined couples, much as the groundbreaking efforts made by women and minorities during World War II inspired our nation.” Tom Leatherman, Superintendent of the Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front Historical Park.

Weddings will be held along the Lucretia Edwards Shoreline, with a dramatic backdrop of San Francisco Bay, the San Francisco and Oakland skylines and views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Bay Bridge. As an added bonus for those who have their ceremonies later in the day, the venue offers spectacular sunset views.

Couples interested in having their ceremony at the Rosie the Riveter Historical Park must make an appointment. Ceremonies can be scheduled online at www.contracostacore.us.

The civil marriage ceremony fee is $60. Couples can obtain a public marriage license for $86 or a confidential license for $90. The license must be obtained prior to the ceremony at the main office in Martinez.

The Contra Costa Clerk-Recorder Division holds Destination Weddings each season at unique and picturesque locations throughout the county. For more information, contact Joseph Barton, Clerk-Recorder Services Supervisor at 925-335-7900.
