Contra Costa County Fire Responds to Multiple July 4 Fires

At 11:55 pm Monday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District reported they had responded to 30 fires across the District. This included 9 fires that are known to have been caused by fireworks.

CONFIRE also stated that since Friday evening, they had responded to 70 fires with many caused by fireworks. This included grass & exterior fires involving palm trees, fences, yards & parks.

On Monday, Contra Costa County Fire responded to a 6.5 acre vegetation fire in Bay Point believed to have been started by Fireworks. They also responded to a residential structure fire in Pittsburg in the 2200 block of Lynbrook (see photo above) where a tree caught fire and extended to the roof. Crews arrived on scene to the rear of the home on fire which extended to the attic.

Some of the calls include:

  • 10:14 pm – Antioch – Prewett Ranch – palm tree on fire at back of home
  • 10:09 pm – Pittsburg 4150 Harbor St – fireworks fire in creek area — update this is 1/4 acre veg on fire
  • 10:07 pm – vegetation fire on James Donlon behind Twin Creeks Apartments
  • 9:42 pm – vegetation fire at Hillcrest Park off Larkspur.
  • 9:28 pm – 2300 block Crystal Ct – outside fire
  • 9:16 pm – Antioch – E 18th & Philips, field on fire. Update, fire now out per PD (9:16 21 pm)
  • 9:15 pm – Antioch – Mellon Ct & Sequoia – outside fire
  • 9:11 pm – Pittsburg – residential structure fire. Tree caught roof on fire, working fire in 2200 block Lynbrook Dr. This is a working attic fire as of 9:20 pm.
  • 9:09 pm – Antioch – 2800 block Skipton Ct – fireworks caught grass on fire
  • 8:50 pm – Pittsburg – Railroad & Central – veg fire + teens placing mattress on fire
  • 8:21 pm – Brentwood: Wicklow Way & Empire – fireworks catch veg on fire
  • 6:21 pm – Bay Point: Port Chicago & Wharf – 6.5 acres

Antioch Police Officer involved in Crash

At 9:35 pm Monday, a vehicle crash involving an Antioch Police Officer occurred at Hillcrest and Wildflower. Two AMR units were requested to the scene.  UPDATE – APD releases info on this crash as Officer responding to house fire started by fireworks

 

Highway 4 Vehicle Crash
At 11:58 pm Monday, CONFIRE on-viewed a 5 vehicle crash on westbound Highway 4 near Willow Pass. A total of 14 patients were at the scene with 11 sustaining 11 minor injuries and two moderate injuries. A total of 4 AMR units were requested.
