Updated: CHP Investigating Highway 4 Shooting in Bay Point

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday night on Highway 4 in Bay Point.

At least one person was injured in the incident that occurred between San Marcos and Bailey Road just before 7:00 pm which has slowed down traffic as officers investigate.

This is the second shooting in a week as Thursday, a shooting occurred on northbound I-680 in Danville.

No information has been released in the Bay Point incident and no update on Thursdays shooting has been released.

UPDATE via CHP Monday Morning

Sunday 12/26/21 Freeway Shooting
Last night (12/26/21) around 6:45p.m., CHP Contra Costa was dispatched to a call of a freeway shooting, with the victim stopped on the right shoulder. The victim reported being shot at while traveling on eastbound SR-4 near Bailey Road. The victim was transported to the hospital to be treated for a suspected serious injury and is expected to recover. The incident and circumstances that led to the shooting are still under investigation.
