CHP Say Officers Struck by Vehicle in Bay Point

The California Highway Patrol reported two CHP officers sustained minor injuries Sunday morning when a suspect vehicle struck the officers during a traffic stop in Bay Point.

The incident occurred on Dec. 26 at 3:30 am in the area of Bailey Road and Canal Road in Bay Point when officers attempted to make a traffic stop on a blue Subaru Outback.

Per CHP, the driver of the Subaru fled and a short pursuit ensued. The Subaru came to a stop facing the CHP patrol vehicle. While two officers exited the patrol vehicle, the driver of the Subaru suddenly accelerated and collided with the two Officers, causing minor injuries to both.

The Subaru fled the scene and was later located abandoned. A search for the driver was conducted but unsuccessful. Both officers were transported for treatment and subsequently released.

This incident remains under investigation.
