Candidate Filing Period Closes August 12 for November General Election

On Friday, August 12th at 5:00 pm, the Candidate Filing Period for the November 8th 2022 General Election will end. Nomination papers will be available at the Elections Office until the close of the Candidate Filing Period.

Candidates for School Districts and Special Districts can come to the Elections Office lobby at 555 Escobar Street in Martinez. City Council candidates should go to their respective City Clerk’s Office to file papers.

“Local elections are important for Contra Costa County residents. Policy decisions for schools, parks, roads, water use and much more are determined by these local offices. If you want a say in those policy decisions, get involved!” said Debi Cooper, Contra Costa Registrar of Voters. “Our candidate services staff have over 40 years of experience helping candidates file for office and are ready to help potential candidates with their questions and paperwork.”

Interested candidates can come to our office between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, no appointment is necessary. If candidates have any questions prior to coming in, they can reach out to the team by email at [email protected]  or by calling 925-335-7800. Filing documents and information are provided to interested constituents when they meet with Candidate Services staff.

The process takes approximately 20 minutes.
