The National Weather Service issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for most of the San Francisco Bay Area including East Contra Costa County until 10:45 pm Wednesday night.
They said at 8:35 PM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges continued to indicate locally heavy rain which will cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
- Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
- Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
- In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
