The Walnut Creek Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in the early morning hours of November 8 in the 2600 block of Jones Road in the City of Walnut Creek.
Police received a call at 5:00 am regarding a woman asking for help who had just been stabbed. Officers arrived while life saving measures were being performed on the victim. She was quickly transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased.
The suspects was determined to be the victim’s son, Nicholas Roth, 41 of Walnut Creek. He was located at the scene and placed under arrest for murder.
The victim was identified as Darlene Roth, a 74-year-old resident of Walnut Creek.
Police say the investigation is still active and only limited information is being released at this time. There is no threat to the community as this was an isolated incident between family members.
The homicide is the fourth murder in the city so far this year.
