Vacaville: $2 Energy Drink Theft Leads Police to Large Scale Identity Theft Investigation

by ECT

The Vacaville Police Department announced that a $2 energy drink theft from a local store unfolded a large identity theft investigation involving many victims and counties in the State.

Police say Brian Gentry, 22 of Bay Point, and Jennifer Carter, 31 of Walnut Creek, were contacted by police after a loss prevention agent observed them select and drink an energy drink inside the store. The two then walked out of the store without making any attempt to pay for it.

While investigating the incident, officers discovered numerous credit cards, financial documents, a check book and stacks of mail belonging to people from all over California.

Gentry and Carter were staying at a local motel which was also subsequently searched. Several additional items of identity theft documents were located.

Gentry was arrested for identity theft, possession of brass knuckles, driving with a suspended license, and probation violation. Carter was arrested for identity theft and possession of stolen property

When will we pass a law that allows the real person to take the human rights of their ID theft self?
