WTF Jul 25, 2018 - 4:34 pm

How was this only a 1 alarm to begin with? With the high fire danger already and on a hot day like today, they should have had it as a 2 alarm from the start. I hope this wasnt start from some dikhead throwing out a lit cigarette.

? Jul 25, 2018 - 7:19 pm

Please don’t assume that it wasn’t more than 1 alarm. It was one alarm locally and a full response from Cal fire from the first 911 call.

Timeline Jul 25, 2018 - 8:20 pm

Im not assuming sh it, look at the timeline above, there was a 26 minute gap between 1 alarm and the 2nd alarm…with this heat and wind, there should have been a 2nd from the start.

? Jul 26, 2018 - 8:42 am

Actually you are. Because you were not in the room making the calls. The full response from cal fire was made within the first minute of receiving the original report. We don’t track their units. So you (the general public) should not criticize what is being done until your information is accurate.

Posting your response 3 times, doesnt make it any better, thats for sure.. Im going off what the article said as does alot pf people, are you in every decision room that goes in in this state? No youre not, even you get information be what other provide, so STFU. Thanks

? Jul 26, 2018 - 10:18 am

And the article says…. East Contra Costa along with Cal Fire. And no you’re right I’m not in every decision room in the state nor did I claim to be. However, I was in the “decision room” for this fire and I know what was done and when it was done. So like I said please do not assume you know what was going on or what was sent.

That was our question too. The dispatcher also couldn’t understand where Marsh Creek Road was when we called it in. We were listening to the dispatch radio live, and they truly did not call a second alarm until at least then. The eventual response was great, but the immediate response from local fire was quite disappointing, and unfortunately having just ONE engine on scene had no chance of saving that house.

Exactly Jul 26, 2018 - 12:32 pm

Yes, thats exactly my point in what i was saying above, but the yellow face emoji poster got his little feelings hurt. Who cares if you were in the room or not, I have 3 family members that lost their homes in the Napa fires last year, these reports of fires need to be taken serioulsy and sending outt a 1 ALARM fire call initially was not enough! You obviously want to brag that somehow your inportant in your little world, but since your in the know and in the room, maybe suggest making it a 2 alarm right from the start next time.

? Jul 26, 2018 - 1:30 pm

There was a local alarm sent and a full response from cal fire at the time of the initial call. Not just a single alarm. Period. To say the response was limited in the beginning is just incorrect. I’m sorry if the facts offend you.

Were you listening to con fire and cal fires frequencies at the same time?

? Jul 26, 2018 - 1:35 pm

Unfortunately out on marsh creek and in east contra costa the resources are limited. The one engine that is staffed out there is not enough. Resources coming in from other jurisdictions and from the Brentwood Oakley side have a significant response time.

Also, did you call in on a cell phone or a landline? If it was a cell phone you would have reached the chp dispatch center in vallejo.

??‍♀️ Jul 26, 2018 - 2:21 pm

As I said, the initial local response was lacking, and the eventual response from calfire was great. The original poster was completely correct, and that is a completely appropriate question to ask.

I don’t know why everything makes you so angry, but no one has criticized Calfire’s response, in fact quite the opposite. But the fact remains that LOCAL fire did not activate a second alarm until way late in the game, and since they are our initial response in this area, it resulted in a critical delay. Again, the response from Calfire and the rest of the agencies eventually was great, but the local agencies really dropped the ball on the initial response.
So you can get your little Calfire dispatcher panties out of a wad, we weren’t talking about you anyway. ??‍♀️

Yes, Exactly again! Jul 26, 2018 - 3:15 pm

100% my point initially……….No sense debating with smiley emoji ????????????????????????????

Landline? LOL Jul 26, 2018 - 3:39 pm

WTF! Its 2018, who uses a landline anymore? Do you still travel by horse and wash your clothes by hand too? Guess what, they have cell phones, cars and washing machines now! OMG! Too funny!!

Not good Jul 25, 2018 - 5:01 pm

Up to 50 acres now , calling in air support, not good!

Gayl Belfor Jul 25, 2018 - 5:47 pm

Thank you Cal Fire! My daughter & 2 little kids got out and are on her way to meet with husband at his work. Rest is just stuff

See! Jul 25, 2018 - 6:23 pm

Who didnt see this coming?

Elizabeth Jul 25, 2018 - 8:04 pm

Someone starts these fires! They don’t just start alone!

Usually Jul 25, 2018 - 8:11 pm

But downed poeelines can start fires too.

Simonpure Jul 26, 2018 - 12:20 pm

The fire started in the creek (bed) off Aspara Road but the actual cause is unknown.

We all know Jul 26, 2018 - 12:35 pm

stay safe firefighters and everyone. I live along marsh creek and am gone-staying elsewhere tonight. fires grow very fast in these temps and wind. wind has died down at my barn in Brentwood. but last night winds were high at my house at clayton palms. just want all to be safe…

Daniel Jul 25, 2018 - 9:48 pm

Praying for all the dear firefighters!!!!

Debbie Mathewson Jul 26, 2018 - 7:28 am

I’m going to go down and drive off about three or four cases of water and Gatorade‘s for the firefighters today! Supposed to be another hot day. Be careful out there guys!!!

Bad idea Jul 26, 2018 - 8:18 am

Good intentions, but bad idea. The command center has plenty of that, youre helping more by staying off the roadways and letting trucks and equipment more freely.

? Jul 26, 2018 - 8:48 am

That is really sweet. I’m sure they really appreciate it. Thank you

Not sweet at all Jul 26, 2018 - 4:00 pm

Its odd that you seem to work for Calfire and you are encouraging someone to drive towards this fire sceen to bring water. They have plenty of water up there, what Calfire wants it citizens to be off the roads and out out of the way, so they can do their jobs.

Richard Melendres Jul 27, 2018 - 8:31 am

Anyone have info on Brookeside Ranch? Dell and Sandys place? We are praying that their animals survive this fire with them. Haven’t been able to contact them since fire started. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Is there a rescue team for pets in that area? Thank you and God Bless.
