Updated: CHP Says Friday Afternoon Shooting on Highway 4 Was Targeted

The California Highway Patrol confirmed Friday that they are investigating a shooting that occurred earlier in the afternoon on eastbound Highway 4 at Laurel Road in the City of Antioch which has temporarily shutdown the roadway as they investigate.
It is unknown when the shooting occurred, however, traffic began to be impacted around 1:30 pm as law enforcement arrived on scene to check the freeway for casings. No estimated timeline of when the freeway would fully open.
According to multiple witnesses, a man showed up to John Muir Hospital with a gunshot wound and told law enforcement the location of the shooting.
Update:
According to Brentwood Police Lt. Walter O’Grodnick, the victim sustained a gunshot wound while driving and drove himself to John Muir Medical Center on Balfour Road. The shooting occurred on Highway 4 which is CHP jurisdiction and are the leader investigator on the case.
Update #2:

An apparent targeted shooting occurred on eastbound Highway 4, west of Lone Tree Way in Antioch. The shooting, which took place around noon on Friday, left the driver of a black pickup truck with a gunshot wound to his leg. At this time, it appears someone traveling in a grey SUV (possibly a 90s model Mitsubishi) shot at the pickup approximately 3 times and fled the scene. The driver of the pickup is currently being treated for his injuries at a local hospital.

Detectives assigned to CHP – Golden Gate Division Investigative Services Unit (ISU) are actively investigating this shooting. Our detectives are requesting assistance from the public in gathering the details surrounding this incident.
