At around 8:00 pm Saturday, the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff responded to a report of a possible shooting in the area of Holland Tract Road and Delta Road in Knightsen.
While responding, sheriff deputies were advised that a subject was reportedly tied to a tree after having been shot in the head. There was also possibly multiple suspects in a field that had fled the area.
Upon arrival, sheriffs deputies could hear the victim calling for help, but he was unable to move because he was tired up and was injured. There was also a possible second victim in the field nearby who was also injured.
By 9:12 pm, the subject told law enforcement that had been shot in the head. Due to the unknowns in the area with the responsibles possibly still in the field, a BEARCAT (an armored police rescue vehicle) vehicle was requested to the incident to assist law enforcement with recovering the two victims.
By 9:53 pm, the Sheriffs Office reported they had made contact with the victim and were transporting him to medical who was standing by as he was suffering from a head wound, along with lacerations to the neck, ear and arms.
Just after 10:00 pm, law enforcement stated they located a rifle at the scene and were making attempts to reach a second victim.
By 10:17 pm, law enforcement recovered the second victim who was being treated by AMR.
Confirmed agencies involved included the Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office, Oakley Police, CHP, East Contra Costa Fire, and AMR.
No other information was available and this is considered preliminary as of 10:30 pm Saturday
UPDATE – Monday, Oct 7 at 1:30 pm via Sheriffs Office
On Saturday, October 5, 2019, at about 7:33 PM, Deputy Sheriffs responded to a report of a possible shooting in the area of 7000 Holland Tract Road in Knightsen. Deputies searched the area but were not able to find any evidence of a shooting or any gunshot victims.
Approximately 30 minutes later, a person called to say he was hiding in the bushes in a field. He stated his friend was also in the area and may have been shot. Sheriff’s Office STARR helicopter later located the two who were apparently trying to steal marijuana when they were confronted by several unknown men.
An armored SWAT vehicle was used to rescue the two men. One of the them had been bound and severely beaten by the unknown suspect(s), while the second man suffered minor injuries. Both were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Neither of them suffered from a gun-shot wound.
Deputies searched for the suspects but were not able to locate them. The marijuana grow operation was illegal and has been eradicated.
